Word Trails
How to play Word Trails
One English five-letter word each day, and up to 7 guesses to find it. Nothing is timed, nothing is scored against anyone else.
What the clues mean
- In the word, in the right place
- In the word, somewhere else
- Not in the word
Every tile carries a small mark as well as a colour — a filled dot, an open ring or a flat line — so you never have to rely on colour alone. Screen readers read each letter and its clue after every guess.
The rules, in short
- Five letters, 7 guesses. You know both before you start.
- Real words only. A guess has to be a word we recognise. If it isn’t, nothing is used up — just try another one.
- Repeated letters count properly. If the word holds one E and your guess holds two, only one of them is marked.
- Keyboard or screen. Type it or tap it, whichever suits you.
- A new word at midnight. Your local midnight, not ours. Unfinished guesses survive a refresh.
