What makes a puzzle hard for an adult
Difficulty here is never about hiding a change in three pixels. It comes from the number of objects on screen, how similar they are to each other, and how quietly an object moves rather than disappears. A city street of near-identical windows is far harder than a forest with six large animals, even when both contain the same number of changes.
The three change types that cause the most trouble
Moved objects are the hardest: your eye recognises the shape, ticks it off as seen, and skips past the fact that it has drifted. Resized objects come second, because your brain corrects for scale automatically. Recoloured objects are the easiest of the three, so on expert levels they are used sparingly and never as the only change.
How to get faster without hints
Work in bands rather than jumping around. Scan the top third of both scenes, then the middle, then the bottom, and only then look at the edges. Most players lose their time on a single change they have already looked at twice — a systematic sweep costs a few seconds and saves far more.
Fair, even at expert level
Every puzzle is measured before it is published. Changes must be large enough to see at a glance, spaced apart from each other, thumb-sized to tap, and fully inside the frame. Hard means dense and subtle, never unfair.
